Lot Clearing for New Homes in LaBelle & Hendry County, FL
We are a referral service. We match you with independent local professionals; we do not do the work.
Clearing a residential lot to prepare for a house pad, driveway, septic and well. Common in Port LaBelle and Montura subdivisions where many platted lots have grown back to scrub. Check your plat and county requirements first; pads approved through a site plan or plat may be exempt from the separate clearing permit, but driveway, septic (Florida DOH) and building permits still apply.
How to get an accurate quote
- Parcel size and parcel ID (from the Hendry or Glades Property Appraiser)
- Photos with something for scale, and what must stay standing
- Largest tree diameter, and whether roots must be removed
- Whether the ground has been wet recently
What it typically costs

Permits in Hendry County
Hendry County requires a land clearing permit under Sec. 1-58-6(a)(5), except for bona fide agricultural purposes and clearing for house pads or development already approved through a site development plan or subdivision plat. The county's guidelines say no contractor license is required for this permit itself. Typical submittals: an Accessory Use permit application, a statement of purpose, proof of ownership (tax bill or recorded deed), a boundary survey showing easements and flood zone, a site plan marking areas to clear, a DEP wetlands determination (if applicable), floodway proof (if applicable), a driveway permit (if applicable), and debris-disposal receipts or a Florida Forest Service open-burn authorization number. Gopher tortoises are protected statewide; if burrows are present, the FWC permit process applies before clearing.
